Relocation of Warriappendi School
In December 2024, Warriappendi School will move from its current site on South Road to 2 Ann Nelson Drive, Thebarton.
We are required to move as the land our school is required for the North-South Corridor project.
The school will open on the new site in term 1, 2025 with a capacity for 150 students.
As of May 2024 construction on the new school has begun.
School facilities
The new site will have specialist facilities such as:
- a gym
- STEM Classrooms
- Art Rooms
- Wellbeing spaces
- Library
- dance and drama space
- music rooms
Specialist subjects the school curriculum will include:
- design and technology
- art
- physical education
- Aboriginal studies
- ICT
- hospitality
- performing arts (music/drama/dance).
Additional specialist subjects will be determined in due course. The principal will work with the school community regarding new and existing interests.
Uniform:
The uniform of the school will not change immediately.
Getting to school:
Students can use the Warriappendi school bus, catch public transport, cycle or be dropped off.
Confirmation of bus, train and tram routes, bus stops and timetables will be confirmed and shared around mid-2024.
Enrolment:
Year 6 students transitioning to high school the following year can apply to attend Warriappendi School through the Statewide Transition Process.
Students currently in years 7 to 12 attending other high schools that wish to transfer and enrol at Warriappendi School should contact the school directly for further information.
Warriappendi School will remain an unzoned special entry school and eligibility criteria is available on the school’s website.
Community Use Of School
The Department’s ‘Schools as Community Hubs’ policy has been pivotal in the new schools design to ensure that the community benefit through access to school ovals and play spaces for use and access to school facilities for the community outside of school hours.
Trade Skills Centre
The existing Trade Training Centre at Warriappendi holds significant importance within the school. The new facility will offer a similar commercial kitchen and program, allowing students to pursue a Certificate I Hospitality and Certificate III Catering Operations.
Architect and builder
Yanun Project Services will be the Project Manager on behalf of the Department for Education and Department for Infrastructure (DIT).
Community consultation
The Department for Education, along with architects and Linking Futures (an Aboriginal consulting company), is actively collaborating with staff, students, and the community to gather feedback on what they envision for the new school culture.
