SAASTA Aboriginal Power Cup
Year 10/11/12 students have the option to participate in the Aboriginal Power Cup, football carnival. Warriappendi fields both a boys and girls team in the carnival. Participation is based on engagement and attendance in lessons, and together with the Integrated Learning stage 1 subject, competing in the carnival gives all participants 10 Stage 1 SACE credits.
SAASTA Specialist Sport Academies
Warriappendi encourages all students to apply and engage with the SAASTA Specialist Sport Academies. Students in years 10, 11 and 12 can apply for the Aboriginal STEM Academy, the Aboriginal Netball Academy, the Aboriginal Soccer Academy and the Aboriginal Basketball Academy. Currently Warriappendi has 8 students involved in the 2023 school year.
Our year 7/8/9 students have the option to engage in the SAASTA connect program. The SAASTA Connect program encourages attendance at school and positive participation in cultural activities, leadership, literacy and sporting activities. We teach the SAASTA connect curriculum within our Aboriginal Studies curriculum.
Tjindu AFL Academy
Leveraging the appeal of sport, specifically AFL, Tjindu facilitate a specialised cultural and curriculum- based program that caters to the interests and learning needs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in years 10-12. Warriappendi supports students in applying for and accessing the Tjindu AFL Academy.
