Literacy

Warriappendi School currently focuses on reading and writing improvement as per our Site Improvement Plan (SIP). This document outlines our approaches to achieving the goal of improved student literacy through a model of professional learning, pedagogical change, evidence, and data impact.

The rationale behind this is that, whilst we currently have a focus on literacy as a whole school, we need to maintain that focus to move forward. Secondly, we want to ensure that the Professional Learning provided is consistently and explicitly applied in the classroom. Thus, collection of data can help support our teachers to embed pedagogical change into their classroom practices. This has the potential to lead to improved reading and writing of our students, as per the SIP. As our teachers become more data literate, it is important that we allow time to further develop their data literacy, so that they can apply this new knowledge into their planning and practice.
